A New Beginning: The Powell Family’s Journey

After 34 years of marriage and raising four wonderful children, Shannon and April are embracing a fresh chapter in life. Now empty-nesters, they’ve purchased 64 acres of land to turn into a vibrant farm, despite having never owned a farm animal or done anything like this before. With no prior farming experience, this journey is completely new for them, but their enthusiasm and faith are guiding them every step of the way.
On their 64-acre slice of heaven, they’ve introduced over 50 animals, including Highland cows, donkeys, sheep, and horses, and have created a small garden filled with fresh vegetables and a beautiful array of cut flowers. The peaceful surroundings and tranquil atmosphere make it feel like a true sanctuary, a place where both the family and visitors can reconnect with nature.
This adventure is not just Shannon and April’s—it’s a true family effort. In partnership with their daughter and son-in-law, they are building a unique farm business. Hannah and Jacob Oswald, along with their three children, bring hard work, vision, and energy to the project, making it all possible. Together, they’re creating a Glampsite (glamorous campsite) where guests can enjoy farm life in comfort, as well as hosting events that celebrate nature, family, and faith.
With six grandchildren, Shannon and April cherish the opportunity to share this new journey with their loved ones. It’s not just about farming; it’s about creating lasting memories together and leaving a legacy of hard work, faith, and respect for the land.
Driven by faith, a desire to make a positive impact, and a commitment to sharing the peace and tranquility they’ve found on the farm, Shannon and April, alongside their family, are cultivating a place that inspires others to slow down, reconnect with their faith, and appreciate God’s magnificent creation. This farm is more than a place to visit—it’s a place to grow, to find peace, and to create lasting memories together as a family and as a community.
